Nissan Almera bonnet catch wont open?

How do you open the bonnet when the catch is broken

Try pulling on the cable (handle end) with a pair of pliers...this usually causes the bonnet to pop. However, if the cable has snapped at the bonnet catch end, often the only way in is by smashing the grille, unfortunately.
