My Fabia is revving without pressure on accelerator?

My skoda Fabia Diesel 2000 model SDI has started to rev without touching the pedal when first starting the engine and also does this when going through the gears on occassion. Recently had this serviced but problem still there, can anyone help? thanks

i had this on my petrol 1.6 fsi octavia, i put it down to being a anti-stall feature that revs the engine when the ecu is dectecting unusually low revs. this is only a theory tho
