This happened to mine and the steam just kept coming out even when I wasn't holding the button in. To descale it I mixed the descaler in a jug and poured it into the tank. Then I just held the button in until the tank was empty (you should do this over the sink - the amount of rubbish that comes out is unbelievable!). Then I did it again with clean water once or twice. Took a while but it was fine after that. Mine's been done a few times this way and it's still working fine.
