Error message DEV 001, ERR 91, FRU 3610 on IBM Thinkpad 600?

I get a DEV 001, ERR 91, FRU 3610 error message during Systemboard test on IBM Thinkpad 600. Anyone knows how to fix it? Do I have to replace the system board?

The battery pack is dead.

I have the same problem, found this on another site:

Error 192: Fan
DEV 001: System board.
FRU 3610: 36 = System board & 10 = Battery.

It looks like you've got a problem with either the processor fan, system board, or battery. Try removing the battery and running the system. If you still get the same error, you likely have a bad CPU fan or system board.

Before giving up on the machine, try reinitializing the BIOS, and if that doesn't work, try updating the BIOS if you can. (You won't be able to update the BIOS if the system doesn't hae a working battery, though.)

Sometimes a poorly seated component can cause similar errors, too. So if you're pretty decent with a screwdriver, feel free to dive in and reseat your components.

HERE (http://www-online.kek.jp/~yasu/thinkpad-hardware.pdf) is a copy of the hardware manual for your ThinkPad that you can refer to for deciphering error codes and assembly/disassembly instructions and diagrams.

Download the Hardware Maintenance Manual from www.lenovo.com and work you way through the diagnostics in it.
