Hi. My elderly father's laptop HDD started to 'clunk' and he is unable to boot-up. it says (after much HDD noise) 'insert system disk'. He has no disk as it was 2nd hand. I've tried F8 to no avail. Any suggestions as to starting it up please? It has USB and i've got 1GB stick if there is a 'download'.Thanks.

sounds like you need a new hard drive or the old one need to be reinstalled with windows software. Try downloading service/user manual for the tecra 8000 at www.manuals4you.co.uk/laptop.html it free to download.
