iveco daily 3510 starting problem or alternator?

hi everyone, i have bought iveco daily year 1999/2000 and have a problem with battery - nothing worked, no electricity at all, so i tried battery from my rover 416 and it worked OK, i have bought a new heavy duty battery but when i start the engine now the battery indikator doesnt go off. Does it mean that alternator is not working? I am wondering if it cant be just some fuse or relay, or if the alternator is gone as well. Could you please help me

If everything was working OK when you fitted your battery off 416 then you have most probably blown the diodes in the alt when fitting new HD battery, poss by connecting battery wrong way round- thus resulting in you now having to buy new alternator or reman alt which is cheaper

The battery indicator is your charging light, wired to the alternator it tells you if 12v are being dispatched to the battery. The light stays on when the regulator pack gives up, so its fair to say you are shopping for a alternator. My advice is to replace the battery at the same time and then you have peace of mind.
