fujitsu siemens amilo laptop keyboard settings?

Does anyone know why my keyboard will show different characters on the screen to those typed in, (ie: it shows * instead of O). It was fine until early this week. Have I inadvertantly changed the keyboard settings and how do I rest it?
Thanks in advance.

I luckily came across this page.hey guys I'm so happy,I had this problem that when I pressed ( i ) I got 5, pressed( o ) I got 6 and so on
i = 5
o =6
u = 4
i had to always press the 'fn' button, to change it to lettering, but when I applied the
'' press Fn key and insert/num key at the same time '' according to Baton and Derek, the problem was gone. Thank you so much and remain blessed. Chilongo.

Not really an answer, more a thank you. I had the same problem, came across this thread and thought I'd test the FN / INSERT / NUM method. It worked - magic! Thank you for the great advice "baton"

check your settings in regards to REGIONAL and LANGUAGE which is in the CONTOL PANEL,
i think you may have changed your settings for your keyboard to US instead of UK
