FLASHING LIGHTS HOTPOINT FDW20 DISHWASHER?

MY FDW20 HAS WASH AND DRYING LIGHTS FLASHING TOGETHER WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
TERRY, September 2008
My Hotpoint Aquarius FDW20 dishwasher has the green drying light on constantly and won't allow any programme to work - it won't fill with water or start. Help

Hi I have a similar problem except it is the wash and rinse lights that are flashing, can anyone tell me what that means and can it be mended easily

Eliz, April 2012
I normaly find on mine that it's due to no water supply, caused by inlet pipe being frozen

first 2 and 3 light flashing now 2 and 4 are flashing wat is it

Same problem - lights 2 and 4 (wash and drying) flashing and it emptied itself halfway through the cycle. Hotpoint repair man didn't have to ask any questions, came with new heater element and replaced it. My problem was limescale which caused the heater sensor to think there was a problem even though there wasn't, so if you live in hard water area, try repeated cycles with a limescale remover and see if that works - cheaper than a callout and a new element!

lights 2 & 4 flashing are related to the PCB in the door & the element. Normally the element that is either open circuit or breaking down about half hour into the quick wash cycle. Replace the element first as cheaper option!

HAD THE SAME LIGHTS FLASHING AND HAS BEEN THE HEATER EACH TIME. I HAVE FITTED 4 HEATERS IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. CAN ANY ONE TELL ME IF THIS IS A DESIGN FAULT OR JUST BAD HEATERS.

TREVOR.A, November 2008
the lights flashing mean the control unit has sensed a fault.
the most common faults are,
1 / the drain pump blocked, Is it draining at the beginning of the cycle?
2 / the heater is open circuit.
