Can't turn on Tv?

I can't turn on my tv - toshiba 2955de - when it is n standby mode. When i press the 'on' button on the remote, the red light on the tv indicator turned to green and the screen remains black.

The remote (CT-8003) for my Toshiba TV has a little slider switch on the left hand side marked - TV - VCR - DVD.

If I move this switch away from the TV position I get the same as you do - check slider set to TV.
