When I start up the computer it takes too long to start.How can I stop background programmes running and speed up starting the computer. I am not an expert on computing

Type msconfig
Click OK
Select STARTUP tab

Uncheck all boxes

Next time you start machine a dialog box will appear saying things have been changed

Download for free a program called 'Quick Startup' it will show you all the programs that start when you start your computer,all you do is select the ones that you don't need running all the time,it doesn't remove them it just stops them operating all the time.
