Citroen Berlingo diesel van, the gear lever is sloppy and hard to get gears?

I have a Citroen Berlingo Van, it's getting hard to select gears and the gear stick is quite sloppy, any ideas please?

Lift the stick cover and check if a weld has failed to the linkage.
