How can I repair damage on upholstery?

I was ironing on the sofa and the upholstery got stained with what looks like a brownish residue. How can I remove this? I tried rubbing it with lestoil. Will steaming do anything for it?

you can try steaming, but more unlikey you have scorched the item, contact a local upholsterer who will advise if steaming aint helpful, good luck
