whirlpool 1000 makes a scraping loud noise when water is being pumped out

possibly a piece of metal waste in the pump, if youre brave enough disconnect and remove the pump from the machine, open it up and clear it out, sounds complicated but is actually quite easy, had the same problem with my hotpoint aquarius machine
