Get a thermostat replacement kit. Type green dot. Hotpoint Part number 1701583. Available from Ebay. There are two thermostats in the machine. One at the back and one you need to remove the top of the machine to gain access to. Easy to fit. You just need a medium size cross point screwdriver to gain access. Connectors are just pull offs. Just unscrew the original and pop in the replacement. ISOLATE MACHINE FROM THE MAINS FIRST EH!!!!
