Door Lock and Over-Riding it?

The door lock light does not come on and the machine does not fill and run. This was initially intermittant but now permanent. I have checked all of the connections and decided that the best solution would be to over-ride the door lock mechanism but is this possible? Many thanks in advance for any advice.

It is a Blomberg washing machine.

Solved! hope this is helpful to others:
The catch was not pressing firmly enough on to the 'interlock', which is the bit just inside, bit like the keyhole, which the catch sits in. Because of this the interlock was not locking. The problem may be with the catch or the lock but eitherways The solution was to press the interlock down manually with a pencil, this sets off the maching and when you close the door it locks shut as normal and un-locks after the wash, as normal.

don't override the door interlock as if you where to open the door with the drum spinning it will rip your arm clean off!.its there for a reason so replace it there not that expensive
