mercedes sprinter r reg?

when you turn ignition on glow light does not light up when you start the van the glow light comes on then when you turn off ignition the engine still runs

i forgot to add that if you turn off the ignition and the engine still runs you have a faulty solenoid that is supposed to shut off fuel to engine.
