I have the Inca won’t go passed 2k but if you turn key on and off when running it’s fine for a min ??

Hi there, my Seat Inca 1.9SDI has limp mode problem too. AA man said diagnostics report "pedal sensor" problem (not "pedal position sensor" - apparently there are 2 sensors.)
I will get the garage to check to output voltage, as suggested in one of the above posts. (Thanks for that suggestion, "diesel" )
I'll report back whether it solves the problem.

I'm having the same problem only with a 1.9tdi. Ironically reading the last comments I had my van washed today. The van will be driving fine then drop to 1100 revs, when I clutch it and turn the ignition off and on in gear goes fine again. Will try and dry the ecu and see if it helps

same problem here caddy sdi ayq 2003 limp mode . i sent ecu away but came back still in limp mode , no faults on ecu as checked by snapon vag computer, just going to sell it now as parts and spears ,, sad thing is i realy took great care of my van , only 57000 miles and still has plastic on carpet from new ,,,

Hi have a 99 vw polo SDI 1.9 showing tps sensor on fault code reader. The car idles but won't take the revs etc. Removed ECU module and checked for damp and water ingress. But just found some corrosion on pins/connector plugs. Having bother locating a second hand TPS Throttle postiton sensor second hand as they are a fortune to buy from dealer and wondering will a petrol TPS sensor from a dismantlers be the same as for the diesel version of this car? Thanks for all the advice.

Hi all, i had the same problem to eliminate the relay 109 fault i started the van let it idle and removed the relay which caused the motor to cut out so the relay was obviously working. (About the same time last year my van wouldn't start at all and i had to get a recovered to a garage it took 2 days and they found that the "ECU" had a fair amount of water penetration they dried it out put it back and has been fine). So i removed the "ECU" opened it up and found that there was some water in the unit again and it hadn't been sealed sufficiently, i dried it out with a hairdryer sealed it up with silicone PROPERLY re installed it and hey presto it works a treat.

I'm sorry, but I nearly got killed yesterday in my seat inca 03. I only got the van and I was overtaking and she just went dead. No breaks no noting. Are seat not liable for this as it is a major danger and a fault in manufacture.

Any more news on this is welcome. Caddy 54 plate does not like all this rain. Dead annoying. I t will be great for weeks at a time then will not start. Let it dry out for a day or 2 then it is ok. Mechanic says it is a sensor problem (already changed it over last year or 2 a couple of times) but am i throwing money at the wrong area again ?

Relay 109 under steering shell, that is all yr problems no issues with ecu, change the relay

hi i have a caddy 1.9sdi 2003 engine ayq.
i am having same probs loosing power on banks and revs up to 3000. iam thinking it could be ecu ?

paul, January 2012
fault code 8047 came up on diagnostic check, my 02 inca only revs at 1100rpm, how do i get at the ecu to check for damp?

stuey d, February 2011
the vehicle does have a throttle switch incorporated in the throttle position sensor but this is not the fault this item is inherently reliable when the ecu puts up "throttle position sensor signal implausible" along with limited revs the fault is usually with the ecu which gets water in it owing to being just under the wiper pivot and as the years go by the sealant becomes permeable the fix is to obtain a recon or working second hand ECU but before renewing ecu you should verify that there is a gradual and steadily rising voltage output from the sensor as you depress the accelerator pedal 0V to around 4v though exact values are not too critical also check that the ecu has a good ground path though if the engine runs it is likely ok

Cheers will put that to the garage. The van is still there, anymore ideas of what it could be?? people mention something may be damp????

Sandie, January 2010
the glow plug light acts as a enginemanagement light.is it flyby wire.eng code?

rich, January 2010
Exact same problem now. It's been on diagnostics came up as throttle switch, apparently that doesn't exist?? It's still at the garage. Anybody got any ideas??

sandie, January 2010
i have exactly the same problem, any ideas please/

DenDen, October 2009
Mine sound like the same problem Seat Inca 1.9 sdi, only rev's up tp 2500 rpm?could i be the throttle postion sencer?!?!?And should the throttle body buttery fly be fully open when the engine is just on tick over?

steve, June 2009
exactly the same throttle potention meter replaced it no difference , sent it back bought a used ecu gettin it fitted tomorow how is yours now ???

chris brown, April 2009
water ingress in ecu under scuttle pannel drivers side

aaaaaa, March 2009
i have the same problem with my caddy sdi yr 01
put it on the dianostics it comes up as the accelerator position sencor, i replaced that still no improvement replaced injection pump and still have the same problem has to be in the wiring i even opened the ecu to see if it was damp no ?????? any help out there

jml, January 2009
I have exactly the same problem with my Polo SDI. My local garage has checked it and even sent the ECU away for diagnostics but still the problem exists even though it was ok again for two weeks.

Seal, December 2008
Get the fault codes read. Little point in guessing what the engine management fault is. Could be as simple as a faulty engine speed sensor but the fault code should pinpoint it. You could waste money replacing things that are not faulty.
