Be sure to unplug the machine from the mains,
Remove the top cover of the machine, very straight forward. Unclip the universal coupling from the main timer to the back of the knob. The whole knob assembly is held in place by a backing plate. There are 2 clips at the top of this backing plate. You have to raise these and the backing plate and knob can be pulled out. You cannot see these plastic clips but have a good feel and you'll understand what I mean.
The knob breaks when it has been turned in the wrong direction several times. It's a safety device so as not to damage the main timer.
