how can i fix electric sockets?

in the kitchen there is a double switched 3pin chrome socket hardly used occasionally it doesnt work my rapitester says fault on neutral all kitchen switches and sockets are chrome and put in 5years ago-new kitchen

Easy enough: If your rapitest say this is the problem then its most likely the neutral wire has come out or not making proper contact being loose.

Two things could have occured.
1. The neutral conductor [wire] has come out
2. The neutral conductor has broken at the connection end.
In 1. Slacken the securing screw in the terminal push the neutral conductor back in re-tighten the screw.
Job done.

In 2. Remake the end and work same as 1. If still not working trace back to it's current source junction box or it could be linked to the nearest socket.
Again make sure the power is OFF.[ you'd be suprised the amount of people who forget ]
