my stop light and battery light is on?

my stop and battery light has come on. it flashes when i rev the van, then turns off. the van is a vauxhall vivaro 1.9 TDI

it sounds like the alternater is goosed...if the fan belt isnt "squeaking",,chances are..ye need a new alternater.
