Tecumseh carburetor on old (25+ years) 521 Toro Snowblower?

Carburetor suddenly started squirting through a hole that appears to be an atmospheric vent above the float bowl. This is not a leak but a more or less continuous stream of gas that hits the chute. Flow varies as engine speed increases or decreases and whether the engine is choked or not. Just started doing it this winter after years of faithful service.

perhaps the float level is set to high, thus allowing more fuel into the bowl. be sure the float level is even when the carb is inverted. blow into the fuel inlet, and see if the float moves.

It sounds like your carb float is not shutting off the fuel. Your float may have sunk, or it could be a problem with the needle valve & seat. If it's a copper float, take it off and see if there is gas in it. I fixed mine by drilling a tiny hole, dumping the gas out, and resoldering all the joints and the tiny hole I drilled.

It sounds like the needle and seat need to be replaced.
