I have installed a new hard drive 250GB , installed windows xp and the updates,norton internet security and a few games maybe 8 at most.Now it saying I'm running out of disc space.I defragmenter and it's showing Fat32 and only 8.87gb of disc space with 1.+ of disc spce left. Did I need to format the drive or something?

you need to look, at the disk manager in control panel, this can be quite easily corrected.
