Diesel Audi poor starting when cold?

My Audi A4 130 bhp diesel is a lovely car with only 56000 miles. it runs great but on start up, especially when cold it only starts on 3 cylinders and smokes heavily. once you drive it goes on to 4 cylinders and the smoking stops. Any ideas

Sound like a dribbling injector, Quick, cheap fix, buy some Diesel injector cleaner. Warm the engine to running temp 90 degs approx. Add a small amount of cleaner, neat into to the Fuel filter. Drive the car hard, for at least 10-15 mins to clear the system you should see black smoke in your rear view. This should be a quick/cheap fix, if not a more expensive intrusive maintenance may be required.
