When i use my washing machine i get a putrid eggy smell from my kitchen sink, also when i open the door on the washer i smell it coming from there as well , anyone any ideas as to what could be the problem ?

Thank you both for the replies , its much appreciated :)

I have given the filter a good clean, and i am going to try the vinegar method,
Hope this works, and it is nothing to do with my drains :(

before having to go to the extremes of draiins, try this.....

run on hot wash (90C) with nothing in the machine except a bit of white vinegar in the drum.

ive not actually tried this myself as i dont have that problem, but ive heard it said a few times by various people. i thought it a bit odd at first, but thinking about it, the worst it can do is waste a bit of vinegar, as no clothes in the machine to get ruined :)

When we had this it turned out to be the house drains.

If you have an inspection pit and access to a man get him to lift the cover and have a look.
