hello...
Unfortunately, one has to either change the lock (go to a scrap yard!!!) or dismantle the old one and clean the electric motor...a pain to dismantle...

The door lock is to blame.I have replaced both in rear doors, the first one packing up in a 1 yo car.Recently after 6 years it refused to work again.I took it out ,dried ,lubricated and put it back. It's working so far.I think it's a design failure cause front ones are ok.My advice- if repaired, open and shut rear doors at least once every 3 days to remove moisture.

is it your tailgate-lock ?? Mine broke too. Replacement lock from Citroen dealer was only 32 Euro. Very easy to replace.
