hello, ford transit gear selection problem?

can only select 1st and 2nd, no chance to get it into 3rd 4th 5th or reverse by cajoling or force.Anybody any ideas how to fix this, and is it some thing I can do without the ford garage

remove gear linkage mechanism from gearbox 8 x 10mm bolts hold it down, remove them then soak in wd40 it will free it then re-assemble it. should only take a couple of hours.
