Corby Trouser Press "Strides" Model?

I have had the above model for several years and been extremely pleased with it. However the switch on the top now fails to switch on although the red indicator light shows. I would welcome any advice as to the whereabouts of a reputable repair agent in the Merseyside area.

The above is incorrect. The resistor required is a 15kohm resistor and a 3w rating will work fine. Couldn't get a metal Film replacement from Maplin as they had run out, but used a wire wound one instead. Works a treat. Cheap DIY repair at 59p. All you need is a screwdriver, soldering iron and some wire snips.

My press had same problem....
Remove top 4 rivets
Remove switch pannel 2 screws (Note wire positions)
A 1.5Kohm resistor is sleved and mounted on the back of the PCB. (brown-green-red) 1 watt rating
This was open circuit in my case
Depending on your skills this component could be changed by using the wire ends of the old comonent
Otherwise remove the PCB by desoldering the pins on the switch then proceed to unsolder the resistor and replace as I did.
No other fault was evident and the press once again works
