I need to remove the engine (1.9 normally aspirated diesel) from my y2000 Boxer Van.It looks like there might be room to leave the gearbox,drive shafts etc in place and pull the engine off the box out to the left.Does anyone know if this is possible?Or must I do it the long way and remove engine and box together?

Hi. Yes it is possible. Just done one today tho i had already removed the cyl head. Not a job I would recommend tho. unless you are a very capable mechanic!!!

i have not refitted it yet as it needs the crank regrinding on one journal.
