how to set tappets on fordson major diesel?

I have just replaced the cylinder head gasket on my fordson major diesel.foolishly,i opened all of the adjusting screws between the rockers and the pushrods.I would be very gratefull if someone could tell me how to set the tappets and what position camshaft should be in or what stroke it should be on.I assume it should be T.D.C on no.1 cyl. ,which i think is the crankshaft pulley end but i`m not sure. Clearances would help too.thanks

how do you set the tappets in a massey ferguson 135 engine just after do head gasket

You would need to re-set the valve clearances anyway
after replacing the head gasket.
Remove rocker cover
Turn engine till no.1 valve is fully open-adjust no.8
no.2 " " no.7
no.3 " " no.6
and so on until no.8 " " no.1

This is the "rule of nine". To avoid a lot of engine
turning watch as valves open, and adjust the corresponding valve - make a note of them as you
do them - its easy to loose where you have got to if
doing it like this!
Sorry, can't remember the clearances, 12thou comes to mind, but not sure. Try Google-ing it.
Hope this is of some help.
