how can i find out why oil light flicks on and off whilst driving?

why does my oil light come on and off on my vauxhall astra when i am drivin, and the oil is topped up when ive checked the dipstick

could be oil sender unit blocked. when was last oil change done? later problems possibly include head gasket amongst other costly things. you could try some engine flush then after couple days change oil?
