MANY of these break the DC Jack at the back of the computer. Take a paper clip, and see if you can wiggle the jack or the center post. If either move excessively, then the solder connections inside have broken loose. It is NOT a job for a beginner. In my area (SE USA) the cost to repair runs about $60-$70.
