Further to my earlier answer - how old is the machine - mine's about 15+ years old and is still running well.

Lining up the slant adjustment is the most important thing to get right. After that, the set up of the blade guides and bearings (hence the need for the user manual) After that hey presto - its done. (otherwise, sweetheart a guy in your local B&Q - sure they will do it for you in minutes.)

Have you got the handbook? If not, you can download one from the net - print off and read thoroughly.

The blade runs on a rubber tyred pulley - the tension of the blade is achieved using the knob on the very top of the machine. At the rear of the machine is a knob that controls the 'slant' of the top wheel - if this is on the 'slant' and not level, then it will throw the blade off the pulley wheels. Does this make sense so far?

I would recommend new tires for your Black and Decker Bandsaw.
