how can i fix my Eureka Whirlwind lite 12amps?

my vaccumm does not pick up dirt when i vaccumm but the hose on the vaccumm works and it does pick up dirt what can be the problem? I have a eureka whirl wind lite 12amps (model 43388 volts120 hertz60)
