Caravan Reversing lights don't work?

I am new to caravanning. Reversing lights on van don't work. I have tried plugging both tow bar sockets in and wire wooled all contacts and changed the bulbs but they still don't work - my tow bar installer said that they should work and it is the grey cable that is the one that they use - can you suggest anything?

Also, when indicating sometimes a beeper comes on to let you know you are indicating and sometimes it doesnt - my tow bar is a Brink???

Hi, you could also check the fuse`s they will be in side your caravan, i know mine are next to the battary box under the front seats in side the caravan its self, if all else fails take your car to a local caravan dealers and ask them to check you sockets.

Hope this helps.

For caravan reversing lights, you have to use both sockets...the black cable one controls the main van lights, but the second grey cable has the reverse light connections. The reverse lights use pin 1, which is a yellow wire, and also pin 3 (white) and pin 7 (black) need to be intact too as these are the earth returns.
The other pins power the fridge and van internal battery. You'll also need to check that pin 3 (white) on the black cable plug and socket is intact too.
Forget about the indicator beeper - they have a mind of their own.....!
