blank screen Sony VAIO VGC-L35E?

Screen comes on for a second when you press the monitoe button. have reset to factory settings and reinstalled the graphics driver. can anyone suggest anything else

This is common with Vaio laptops. Firstly, with the computer switched on, shine a bright light on the front of the screen. If you can see something on the screen then it is unlikely to be anything to do with the graphics card. In all probability it will be the screen backlight. This is not too difficult for an engineer but there is a lot of dismantling first.
