Oil Pressure Gauge low when stopped or idleing?

Hi, I have an Iveco 2001 75E15 horsebox. Its just had a full service and new brake fluid pipe and I noticed today that when driving the gauge stays at just under 4 but when stopped or idling it went to just above zero. I revved it stationary and the dial moved up and down like a rev counter. I havent noticed this before. I checked the oil before I set off as the gauge is usually at 4 and I noticed last time I used it, it was a bit lower. The dipstick shown it to be midway between max and min. The mechanic did a full oil change and put what he said was expensive oil in, sorry to be vague but I havent a clue about mechanics etc.
Any ideas please.

Thanks James.
The mechanic came and had a look and said its fine and should as you say do that. He said the oil in it is thin (synthetic) and he did this as its a horsebox, wont be used as often as it should be and by putting the expensive oil in wont need changing as often as if it was the usual oil??
Thanks again for your reply.

The oil pressure goes up and down with the engine, if its under load ie been driven the pressure is higher than when its just ticking over. get your mechanic to check it over again if you are still worred about it.
