Peugeot 307 hdi - engine fan cutting in when cold?

Engine fan has begun cutting in when engine is stone cold. This has resulted in a flat battery recently. The fan will stop running if the bonnet is slammed down hard! What's up doc?

Model is 307 hdi 2.0 65k miles

Did you resolve your problem with the fan? I have an 05 plate 307 HDI 2.0 and I'm having exactly the same problem.
