I dont think the type of people that steal laptops care if they are password protected or not.

Have a look at

It uses LINUX to modify vistas files so vista doesn't realise anything has changed.

I have no intention of posting how to crack a PC's security on an open forum, and I hope that no one else will either. It is a recipe for more stolen laptops.

Take the PC to a local computer shop with proof of ownership and ID and they will be able to unlock it for you. (Assuming that is is not the password in the security chip on the motherboard. They are uncrackable.)
