My Stihl chainsaw is overheating and bogging down after only about two minutes of running. It stops and after it cools down runs for another minute and does the same thing.

Are you talking about the engine or the chain bar? My guess is that its the chain bar thats getting hot, so always keep the chain oil tank brim full if you use the machine on its side a lot.
