I have a Rover ES lawn mower. It has a 4 stroke engine. I inadvertently added 2-stroke petrol into the fuel tank. And now the engine dies soon after I start the engine.

You'll get all of that fuel out of the tank first. Fill it with fresh fuel, change the spark plug and try to start it. It will smoke until all the oil rich fuel is burnt. If it still won't run with the clean fuel and new plug, you may need to open the carb up and clean it out.
