Peugeot 406 Estate no power hard 2 start engine management light on ?

i have a Peugeot 406 Estate i have a hard time starting it when it does eventually start thers a lack of power and wont tick over properly got to keep throtling it 2 keep it running engine sounds rattely aswell help please nigel thankyou
