removing the catalytic converter might cause you to fail and emission or state vehicle inspection-also the oxy sensors won't send the correct reading to the engine computer-but the converter might not be the problem-2.4's have a different style module/coil pack-swapping this whole assy with a used one or from a buddys car might help to isolate the problem-an"AUTO ZONE" or PEP BOYS part store might scan your engine computer for codes for free

You can remove cat, last year not to legally have one is k reg, if yours is newer then got to have on for mot (some people remove it and replace for mot). There may be lambda sensors before and after cat, but not on it. If you look under car there may be bolts holdin it in with wires goin to them, if not poss no sensor. Some cars don't. Prob self adjusting ecu for airflow etc. Will improve bhp marginally, poss by 5 or 10, so poss not worth removing unless highly tuned. Will sound pretty loud also, and increase fuel consumption by a little. Hope that helps. :) ed
