lawnmower transmission?

How do I replace a 3 speed transmission on a Honda lawnmower model HRT216?
Andy, June 2009
It is not as hard as you think. The transmission is sold as a whole unit. You will get the tranny and the axles as well. You have to remove the rear tires - which you will need a snap ring remover (looks like a pair of pliers with points on the end). There are about 4 or 5 bolts that hold the frame together that have to be removed. Lift the bagger flap remove the long threaded bolt - this is what holds the tranny in and keeps tension on the belt. Then just put it back together in reverse order. Get a digital camera and take photos while you dissassemble so you know what is what.
