I have a panasonic sa-dk20 that turns it self off, this happens at no set time period, it may go 1 hour or 5 min before turning off, then imediatly turns back on when the on button is pressed.
I have the same problem. Mine do not read disks too

could be as simple as a cold solder joint or as major as circuitry. I am interested in purchasing the item. I need the cd/dvd mechanism. Mine has failed and will no longer read disks.
