There are two possible causes but first of all are you saying that there are no other colours but red? (i.e. no Green or Blue being sdisplayed. If so broken screen/display hardware or broken/loose cable. You can download ThinkPad Hardware Maint. Manuals from www.lenovo.com
If you mena that your background colour is red and you wnat to change it: Right click with your mouse and choose 'properties'
