drove through a puddle of water van started to die then cut out.Started again drove 100 yards died again.Tried it several times same thing happened every time. Left it parked up a few days then tried it again,engine turing over but not firing. Any ideas anyone?

first remove air filter to see if any water is in the housing or if filter is soaking wet. if it is then could be bad news, as engine could have sucked up water and bent a con rod(s), and broken your engine as water doesnt compress. then need to check bores dont have water in them by removing glow plugs and spinning engine over.if lots of water comes out expect the worst. a compression test would show an internal problem after this.
