Is it possible to fit Easy lifts to an older 1984 Windsor poptop?

What is the roof frame design? I have seen them fitted to an Evernew which has two pieces of wood approx 100mm wide and 300mm long screwed to the edge of the roof centre front to carry the two roof brackets.
Could I get away doing similar or would I need to put a piece of timber right across? Anyone done this?

As there was no reply I set to work anyway. With some help we worked out that the roof rafters and noggins were in line with the screws holding the pop top canvas.
I bought some 100 mm x 3mm flat steel and screwed these longways to the rafters at each end and the next one in.
Then screwed the easy lifts on to these runners to spread the load when raising the pop top roof. I recently spent 4 weeks travelling in the van and they worked perfectly. The first end is a firm push but the other end just dead easy.
