Warning light comes on & temp reading approx 95 or 100 ..... only in traffic situations & only for 2 mins or so ... then temp reduces & warning light goes out ..... never seen this when travelling over 50 mph .... any ideas, ... I had new water pump fitted by main dealer 10 months ago ... but warning light still appears most trips .... oil ok & coolant topped-up ... Any ideas ?

Mine is the 3l elite and does the same. Suddenly shoots into the red then goes back down again after a while but scares me to death. Replaced thermostat & sender unit. Now looking at replacing water pump (replaced by prev owner), heater breather valve and timing belt but I know thats going to cost. Does anyone think that will help?
