Dyson DC07 not collecting dirt via roller?

I have a Dyson DC07 and a few weeks back gave a burning smell.
I looked underneath and noticed that the belt had snapped.
So since then, I have replaced the belt.
However, I can use it via the hose with no problems, but it will not pick up anything when in an upright position via the brush roller.
Any ideas anyone?
Much appreciated.

Hi John,

I couldn't find the other belt.
So, I changed the belt again, one connecting from the spindle to the brush bar.
After turning it on, it burnt the belt.
I noticed that the spindle is spinning o.k, just seems that its not turning the brush bar via the belt, any toher suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi Sunny
If you lay the machine on its back and look inside, you'll see the end of the motor has a black plastic cover over it, (left hand side) held on by 3 screws...the offending belt is in there.

Hi John,

The belt I changed was from the spindle to the brushbar.
Where is the other one?
The bristles are not rotating at all.
Thanks.

There are 2 belts on these, one going from the motor to the clutch, and the other going from the clutch to the front bristles. First step - are the bristles rotating? If they are, check the clear tube that goes from the soleplate into the cleaner body. If still no joy, the DC07 does suffer from the soleplate not being in contact with the carpet, and its best to press it down in contact with your foot before you start to clean.
