why is my engine stopping after 10 to 15 minutes of use?

engine stops after a certain amount of time anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, if i let it sit for 1-2 hours it starts back up

Sounds like dirty fuel filters. There is water in the cooling system, right?
Saw a JCB 3cx with a piece of cork gasket floating in the diesel tank. Once the fuel got low, eventually the bit of cork would get sucked against the outlet. Thats a wild card of a reason, though.
